Having a set of iPads in my speech and language classroom will help my students reach their academic goals through a variety of educational apps. iPads are much more motivating than traditional worksheets and being that we live in a 21st century world, our teaching resources have to be up to par. There are so many benefits of using iPads in a speech and language classroom setting. iPads can be used to download a variety of speech and language focused apps to promote written and spoken language, facilitate learning for students with autism who work with schedules, timers, and symbols, to promote literacy skills, and to download and edit PDFs to go green and eliminate the need to print off multiple worksheets. Of course, iPads are a big motivator for many children, especially special education students who benefit from tangible reinforcement during therapy sessions. Being a speech language pathologist with a large caseload, caseload management becomes a big part of the job description. The App Store offers a variety of apps to effectively track data across time for all students on my caseload.
