Students using this technology will be able to analyze DNA samples. The benchtop rocker will make it possible to stain our DNA samples in class so we can carry out in-depth analysis. The benchtop rocker allows the staining process to be carried out in class. The length of time to stain the samples without the bench top rocker makes this lab impossible to do within the normal class period, and we are left using mock data. This lab will allow students to actually analyze real DNA electrophoresis gels rather than pictures of them. This is the same analysis they will do if they go into the field of biology, so this equipment will help better prepare them for their future in SCIENCE!
