"Man, I don't like reading" is a phrase many English teachers hear way too often. "Then you haven't found the right book!" is always my optimistic response. And I truly do believe that there is a book out there for everyone- my students as well! They love books that they can relate to and find themselves in. Their struggles, their triumphs, their feelings, and their biggest fears will all be captured in these books. These sets of books will really help them connect to literature that they see themselves in while also improving upon their literacy! The books on this project will hopefully encourage their love for reading and give them a story that will speak truth and life into their very own lives. My students will become better readers and writers through this project. The better readers my students become, the better prepared they will become for the next chapter (no pun intended) in their lives! Literacy, personal connection, a love for reading, and deep reflection and thought will all happen through this project! What more can you ask for?!
