If the compression/ weighted vests and blankets are funded, our scholars will utilize them in what we call "the safe space" ,as well as, during transitions in school. It is important to remember that each child with autism is a unique individual, with unique needs and abilities. Because of this, he or she will experience those issues in a unique way or may not experience them at all. We want to be able to provide the best supports possible to ALL students. Our aim is to provide supports like the weighted blanket or vest initially to make students feel comfortable. Our scholars struggle with regulating their emotions independently, therefore these materials will help us provide best practice to our students, in emotionally unstable situations.
