I have a classroom full of movers and shakers, so I went and purchased some different seating options on my very limited budget. After just a week of implementing the scoop chairs and floor pillows, children were more focused while rocking in a scoop seat or laying on the floor with a pillow. I saw such a change in some of my students who notoriously fall out of their chairs due to the need of movement while working. I am looking to increase the seating options offered to my 2nd graders. I truly believe they can learn better when their bodies are content. The item I am most excited about is the Spots Seating Rug. I do most of my instruction when the class is on the carpet. This new rug will give each student a designated "spot," which will allow for smoother transitions. The wobble stools will also benefit a number of students who usually tilt their chairs back and forth, usually causing them to slip backwards to the floor. This awesome stool allows them to safely "wobble" while they work!
