Children learn in a variety of ways and flexible seating supports learning. Our classroom can accommodate several seating areas but we are lacking proper chair and lap desk options. I would like to set up our room with a "lounge" area, a "standing room only" area, a "wiggle room", and more! Specifically, we are requesting your support in purchasing a wider variety of seats for students to select from. We are also asking for alternative desk arrangements to match the non-traditional seating choices. I have added ideas like large pillows, bean bags, mobile desks, high benches, stools, and more. If you were in school again, wouldn't you like to be more comfortable? So would we! We are seeing more and more "Cafe Classrooms" and there is a good reason behind this trend! Research and trials have shown improved student focus and achievement in these more relaxed seating classrooms. Help me eliminate the static environment of a traditional classroom and open the minds of our students to exciting new ways of learning!
