My school does not currently have access to any sensory items. Many of my students need to be able to access flexible seating and fidgets on a daily basis. These items allow them to concentrate and helps create a learning environment where my kids feel they can be successful. Creating a flexible seating environment has been proven time and time again to be a best practice for students. Flexible seating allows students to burn off excess energy, increases engagement, improves oxygen flow to the brain, and provides students with a choice each day. Providing my students with options on where to sit and work also creates many daily opportunities for them to work together and develop their social skills. My students that face the daily struggle to focus in class greatly benefit from fidget items. This allows them to keep their bodies active so that they can keep their brains focused. The fidgets in my project will be used to help kids focus in class as well as calm down tools outside of the classroom. These items are going to help me support each and every student in their own unique and individual way!
