Having more Listening Centers will benefit my students greatly in developing their English language. This year my classroom has acquired four iPods. However, the iPods came without headphones. Therefore, it is difficult to set more listening centers and serve as many students as possible. My students are recent immigrants and allowing them mobility to feel comfortable while learning a new language is imperative. Many of my ELL students come reading below their grade level, so they are not confident when they read independently. They are intimidated to read aloud and frustrated when reading on their own. By preparing them with the basics of the English language they will have greater opportunities and become successful.
