With increased demands of the Common Core State Standards, my seventh grade students need to be present and focused in their learning more now than ever before. Students don't have enough time in their day to get the right amount of physical activity, and so many need constant physical stimulation, the kind of stimulation that often distracts other students from doing their best. By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus by allowing them to fidget in a more appropriate way, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. As I look around my classroom at any given time, I see fingers and feet tapping, legs shaking, bodies rocking and swaying in chairs, and eyes darting around the room. My students need to be able to fidget in a way that expels their energy while not disrupting the learning of others. I want fidgeters and non-fidgeters alike to be able to focus on the learning at hand. Bouncy bands will help so many of my students get the physical stimulation they need, so their brains can continue growing, learning and achieving.
