In today's society, children would rather pick up a remote control than a good book. They are missing out on so much! It is my goal to make reading more enjoyable for my students and help them develop their inner reader. Through the use of of novel unit studies and independent projects, each child will have the opportunity to read books ti collaborate on as well as for their own pleasure. When students find books that interest them, they are more apt to read. The more they read, the more they learn. I will hold conferences with each student to have them teach me what they are learning from their reading. Reading is more fun when you have someone to share it with. Not only do we see others' perspectives, but expand our own thinking skills in the process.
