At our middle school, staff has taken great pride in fostering a welcoming and positive environment for students. As a part our school's initiative of fostering a positive community, our school will be participating in the national Respect Week at the end of October. This year, we have created the "Only One You" painted river rock walkway, where students each get their own rock to design and place on the schools entry way to welcome students of this year and coming years. Through this project, our students will be allowed the opportunity to take ownership of their place in their school and community; they will be able to see their physical place and mark on their school and know that it will be left for future students to see. We hope that through this project, our students will feel a sense of belonging.
