Getting new cameras will allow my students to learn what it is like to take photographs and not just snapshots. They will learn that there is an art form to picture taking not just using filters on an app. They will get to create images and pieces of art that they did not know they where capable of creating through different photographic assignments. Learning to look at the world from a viewfinder and not just an LCD screen will open a whole new world of possibilities including future career choices that they did not know existed. Most importantly they will experience that joy of hearing that shutter sound and knowing they finding art in the world around them that they did not see before.
