The donations for this project will improve my classroom by reducing the amount of behavioral issues and increasing stimulation during the learning of both math and reading. The games are particularly useful during centers and guided times when I'm working with small groups and my students have to work more independently. My students learn well when they have something to "do" as opposed to filling out worksheets. Diverse learners deserve diverse tools for skills practice. My classroom is new and I am new to the school. I am starting from scratch and being able to provide my students with games to improve their learning and practicing skills would greatly aid in both my success and theirs. The games are helpful in establishing that independence they need during lesson times where I am focusing on small groups who need special attention. For this project, I chose three games for guided math and reading, and math and literacy centers. The math games are comprised of 10 different games that meet the standards for Number and Operations, Measurement and Data, and Geometry. These games will meet my students' needs until the end of the school year. I intend to use these games during small group and centers so that my students can practice math skills independently while I work with a small group who needs extra attention. I also chose two different literacy games for this project. These games meet the standards for reading for my students until the end of the year. The games will also be used during guided reading and centers time when I am teaching a small group lesson. The games are used for my students to practice reading comprehension skills independently.
