The class set of I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter will allow my students to engage with a lead female character who is a person of color. The students in my class deserve to see themselves in the novels we read. We will engage in class discussions and projects to help students get the most out of the novel. The students will get the chance to improve their reading abilities and explore a new genre. My students enjoy the feeling of togetherness in reading and experiencing a book as a class. It helps forge connections between the students and strengthens the collaborative energy in my classroom. Ultimately, this book will help my students see themselves in literature.
