My English Language Development class are working in their notebooks daily to practice writing in English. This notebook is pivotal to their success in my English class, but also in their other core subjects. We use the notebook to write down daily phrases they might need to communicate to others on campus, a place to free-write, and a tool that allows communication between myself and the students. In addition to the notebooks, we will be using colored pencils to annotate texts. A Writer's Notebook is a safe space for my students to write their inner-most thoughts and understandings. It also is a crucial tool that is used in the classroom daily.
