My students love to dig in the dirt to find beetles, to watch butterflies, to build mile-high block structures, and to construct their own 'nests'. My students grow tremendously when they have access to books and resources that encourage their enthusiasm while pushing their thinking to higher levels. I love seeing their buildings transform when we discuss how honeybees build their hives or seeing their language change when they see the names of insects in a guide book. With the donation of these image-rich books, magnifiers, models and art materials, students will transform from bug-hunters into entomologists, block builders into engineers. We will use these books, tools and supplies to add to our exploration of the outdoors -- as we learn about the structure of everything from an insect to animal homes to our human-made school. We'll use the art materials to experiment in our own building and creating, and to practice our observation skills. Using these materials will enrich our learning as scientists, engineers, and artists. Thank you for your support!
