Sadly, several cellos were stolen from my classroom before I became the orchestra teacher at my school. Unfortunately, that has made it difficult for students to be able to select the cello as their first choice of an instrument when they are placed in orchestra class. DonorsChoose.org has created a wonderful opportunity for the community, parents, friends, family members etc. to donate toward a wonderful cause to benefit the children at our elementary and help support the orchestra program. Additionally, the orchestra program can also benefit from violin and viola bows, as well as quality and sturdy cello cases to store the cellos in. Students in the 4th grade have the wonderful opportunity of learning a string instrument, and with the gift of some new cellos, bows and cases, will allow for more students to have the opportunity to be exposed to the power of music as well as benefit from the discipline and improvement of visual and verbal skills and so many other beneficial factors.
