In our world today, people need to be problem solvers. In our 6th Grade classrooms, our students are working together to find innovative ways to solve real world problems. Students use ordinary objects and their imagination to create answers to everyday obstacles. By funding our project, you will be fostering outside-the-box thinking for the future leaders of our country. Students will be creating solar ovens out of cardboard and aluminum foil and using infrared thermometers to test them. This project helps them learn about conserving energy and finding alternative energy sources. Students will also build Greek towers made of plastic cups, toothpicks, craft sticks, string, tape, and glue, to withstand the outside elements. They will drop and toss balls of different sizes and weights onto the towers to simulate outside forces and test their engineered design. Students will engineer these and many other projects using everyday objects to cleverly design realistic solutions. During STEM activities, all students are engaged learners through hands-on experiments. Help our students become the inspired engineers of tomorrow.
