Our classroom is "a whole mood" as the kids say. It's welcoming, it's colorful, it's fun. Students from years past still come visit me. We make memories as we delve into literature and act out some of the world's greatest texts. Comfortable seating options, mood lighting, and fluorescent light filters help the physical environment to be inviting and calming: our classroom is a sanctuary. We have a library that spans the entire back wall and beautiful artwork throughout. It is commonly said that students may not remember what exactly you taught them, but they'll never forget the way you make them feel. I believe literature can be life-saving. I want my students to feel seen and loved in my class.
