"Distance learning" and "virtual classroom" have quickly become part of our daily vocabulary due to the Stay at Home mandate in my state. It has been a challenge, to say the least, being catapulted into the digital world of teaching and learning. As an elementary educator, I am grappling with learning and teaching technology simultaneously with my students. An up-to-date MacBook will allow me to teach virtually, hold virtual meetings, and provide engaging and effective curriculum. A larger screen and updated software will be fewer obstacles to support distance learning. It will support my professional development as I need to toggle between screens during live and asynchronous webinars. I will be able to connect with my students academically and also provide socioemotional support as I meet with them virtually "face to face". A better, reliable laptop will allow me to continue to engage with my students more effectively and help them focus on positive things like school and connecting with their teacher and friends online.
