The yoga equipment will help prepare my students on a multitude of levels. There are many behavioral issues at my school and based on data that has been collected, they are most prevalent in 3rd grade. If given the opportunity, my students will not only be able to channel their energy to create a greater awareness of self, but also develop a positive way of dealing with stress while creating a healthy lifestyle. Your generous donation to our project will without a doubt increase the academic achievement of my students by providing them with the tools to make positive choices that can change their lives forever. I plan to incorporate both a physical practice of yoga, as well as a meditation component. I will utilize the mats and blankets by providing each student with their own personal space that they will utilize during each yoga session. The blocks and bolsters will be used to help aid the students with their posture for each yoga pose they learn. The students will be able to reference new poses in the yoga books! I want my students to learn how to be accountable. They will understand that every thought, every word, and every action has a consequence, whether it be positive or negative. I want my students to believe in their own dreams, to find what is important to them as individuals, to celebrate their achievements, no matter how small, and to learn their personal limits. Once they understand these things, they will be able to create personal learning goals. It is my hope that these goals will drive them to succeed at a higher level by creating an instrinsic desire to learn. My personal goal is to utilize the yoga equipment in order to empower each and every one of my kids!
