My students stay after school to be a part of our Lego League Team. This is a great opportunity to introduce students of low-income to Computer Programing and Engineering. Our first need is better computers. As of right now, we have extremely outdated Macs that don't hold their charge. It was also suggested from other LEGO teams that the program runs best on Windows and not Macs. Last year I used my own personal computer because our Macs crashed. Lego League allows students to identify and solve problems by engineering and programming LEGO robots. Students also research real world problems and present it to a panel of judges. The new Acer Aspire laptops will allow my students to research and program their LEGO Mindstorms robots. Our school LEGO set was made in 2009; we need the new version to use the new sensors and stay more competitive during competition.
