I am requesting nonfiction books to put in my classroom library. The books will support our Accelerated Reader program as well as support the two core subjects that I will be teaching this school year, science and social studies. Children love to learn about the world they live in. Additional nonfiction books will provide that opportunity. I want students to understand that they are apart of the world they are reading about. Perhaps they will be inspired to pursue additional topics in the science field, or become inspired to serve in our community. This could be the start of something big!
