My students have spent an entire year away from their peers and the classroom. It's time to welcome them back with arms wide open so we can address social emotional and educational needs. The materials I have requested will aid students in the transition back to learning collaboratively in the classroom. The main item I am requesting is headphones for my students. During the COVID-19 pandemic, students were surrounded by distractions outside of the classroom. These headphones will allow them a safe, quiet working space in the classroom and at home (if needed). All of the other supplies are everyday materials, such as scissors and EXPO markers. We use the scissors for our project based learning and the EXPO markers for collaborating on whiteboards. We will use the binders and sheet protectors to create a portfolio of our work through the year so they can look back and reflect. The clock is to help my students learn how to tell time (and so we aren't late to lunch, hehe). The velcro and nameplate are so each student has a special place in the classroom. I hope this will make them feel welcomed and excited to be back in the classroom.
