The donations will allow my students to have access to a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts that are essential for their literacy development! Washington D.C. has historically had one of the lowest reading proficiency rates in the nation. Our students reside in a community that has traditionally been under-resourced and overlooked. We want to supply students with high quality texts so that they can unlock their full reading potential. One of the predicting factors for future reading success is the enthusiasm for reading. Students will need to have books in a variety of genres and writing styles available to them in order to discover what they love about reading! We do not have the funds to buy new books for a new library so your donation is building the way for student reading success, book by book!
