I am incorporating Number Talks into my math program this next year. Rekenreks are an important tool to help students reason about numbers, subtize, build fluency, and compute using number relationships. Math manipulatives help early learners visualize and master important math skills. I will use the 100 bead sets in small group math centers. There will be enough of the 20 count sets for the entire class to use and practice during direct instruction. I want my students to be able to communicate about numbers and visually see and share how they are learning about number relationships from each other. This is my first DonorsChoose project, and I am really excited at the thought of being able to provide my students with the math manipulatives they need to be successful in school.
