I teach 2 blocks of 28 energetic and enthusiastic learners that have had to overcome more obstacles than I could imagine. They have worked hard to put aside external burdens and move forward in pursuit of their goals. For many of them, school is their safe haven. They know that every day they will be greeted at the door with a smile and breakfast. They will enter the room, have a seat at their desk, and begin their day. Unfortunately, walking into my room does not make everything that happened before getting to school go away. With so many external burdens, some students struggle to stay focused on the task at hand and others struggle just to stay awake.

About my class
