A classroom rug would create such a welcoming environment for the class! A lot of learning takes place during whole group time and children's focus should be directed at the lesson, not to their discomfort. Students would use the rug quite often throughout the day, during morning meeting, read aloud time, shared writing and reading, and mini lessons. To start the year on the right track, we also need other classroom supplies that would benefit all students. White boards are essential to student participation and almost every classroom needs markers and colored pencils! At the beginning of the year, coming to school will be tough for some students, but having a warm classroom with a great rug and supplies ready for them, my students will be off to a great start.
