My students have all been diagnosed with Autism and they all have a wide range of social skills and academic knowledge. My group is bubbly, energetic and eager to learn. We live by the motto that we are a family during the school hours. We support and encourage each other several times throughout the day. At any given moment we may stop and celebrate a "school brother's" success over not getting upset, figuring out something that was really challenging to them or even if we caught someone being extra pleasant. At the end of the day, my students can easily be heard saying "bye brother, see you tomorrow...you had a good day". My students know that everyone is different and learns in different ways, we do not tease each other and will help our fellow "classroom family members". They enjoy when I can connect learning to real life situations and/or when things are hands on. We have a microphone in the room and frequently practice public speaking. We are increasing our love of learning daily.
