Every child deserves a chance to play a musical instrument. However, over 50% of our students come from economically disadvantaged families who cannot financially support renting an instrument. This year we've had the greatest need ever for students using a school owned instrument. We are at the bottom of the barrel in terms of clarinets. Some of our school clarinets have parts that are literally falling apart in our student's hands. The pads on the clarinets are disintegrating and they no longer seal, causing a feeling of frustration and dissatisfaction in our students. For many of my students, band is their favorite class of the day. Help our students make beautiful music on a clarinet that is guaranteed to function and provide countless moments of enjoyment for years to come.
