My students come from culturally and economically diverse backgrounds. General music includes all students with a variety of prior music experiences and knowledge, from those who participate in band, chorus, or orchestra, to those who have never been in a music class. My students are eager to apply what they learn in a hands-on way, but we do not have classroom instruments for them to use.
