My students need more areas in the classroom to organize their supplies. Our school is in the process of switching over from desks to tables and we need storage. Students will be storing their notebooks and folders in chair pockets, but we need storage containers and carts for textbooks, paper, scissors, and other materials. We need ink and laminating sheets to create the proper labels for our new storage containers so that the students can sustain the organization in the classroom on their own. Students currently need to drag their chairs over to the Guided Reading table when I read with them, as well as when they go on the computers. We need stools, exercise balls, and carpet circles so that there is less confusion during transitions in the classroom. As the students will be storing their belongings in chair pockets, it is important that the students already have seats at these frequently used areas. The introduction of alternative seating will allow my students some freedom to choose how they would like to sit and get their bodies moving so that they can focus on learning! Currently, most of our books are stored in milk crates. We need a bookshelf and storage bins to organize our books by category, genre, and reading level. We also need magnet racks to display theme books that help the students to gain interest in reading.
