My students want to be organized and keep track of papers, but it's still a developing skill for fourth graders. Even with spiral notebooks, they still struggle to keep track of which one is for which subject. Additionally, 2-pocket folders do not hold up for the school year, and important papers sometimes never make it home. My students always ask to use binders instead of the folders I provide. This project will make it possible for each student to be organized and for all of their important papers to remain where they belong. The binder system will also make home-school communication more effective so each family is informed on a regular basis about the students' work. Finally, because notes, independent work, and hand outs will all be in one location, it will make it easier for students to work on homework and study for tests independently. Parents can be more involved because they will be able to see class work and class notes in their children's binders on a regular basis.
