My students need a rug to sit on during our classroom meetings. This rug will serve as a central location where students can meet to set expectations for the day, listen to the daily read aloud, and discuss learning that is taking place in the classroom. This rug would help to create a warm and inviting alternative space in our classroom to sit. Having a rug in my classroom will help to create a richer learning environment. We do varied activities during the school day whether it's whole group, small group, paired, or individual activities. It would be advantageous for students to have both their desks and a rug to sit at throughout the day. Students would be able to spread out during independent reading, have rug spots to sit at during mini-lessons and whole group instruction, or have spots to work on during group time. A classroom rug would create more space for my students to discover, community build, relax while learning.
