I am a teacher of 20 years and for the past few years I have been teaching Science to the 4th and 5th graders. Most of my lessons are hands on which keep the students engaged and questioning the world around them. However, now that we are mostly remote, the students have to rely on computer programs, videos and my demonstrations to learn science. The last 2 units of this school year are: Forces 4th: Magnetism and Electricity and 5th: Matter. As you can imagine, that is going to be hard to teach online. The more hands on, the more they will be able to internalize these concepts. I would love to have the students use real science materials.
