The printer and ink that you provided me for my classroom has helped myself and my students in ways that I hadn't even thought of when I requested them. I pride myself on providing my classroom and my students with quality materials, and often spend more money than I should on supplies. I want my students to feel proud of the school they attend, and I want them to know that I am dedicated to providing them with a high quality education, something that I believe ALL children should have access to.\r\n\r\nI have been able to create resources for my students that support and enhance their learning experience. In the photos attached, you will see some examples of these resources. In our current module, we are learning about epidemics. I have used the printer you donated to print images and information about the various epidemics and hang them all around the classroom. This has helped bring the module to life! I have also printed vocabulary for each chapter of our book that includes the word, definition, and a picture to represent the word. Thanks to you I was able to print these in color and for each table. We learned how to analyze text structure, and each table had a printed text structure anchor chart. These resources provide my students with the support they need to deepen their understanding of the content.\r\n\r\nIn our previous module, students wrote children's books to tell the story of a Lost Child from Sudan after we finished reading the novel A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park. We used a website called StoryBoard that to create the illustrations. Your donation ensured that I was able to print the students books in color! This is something that they will cherish and keep for years to come.\r\n\r\nFinally, having a printer has allowed me to print additional copies of materials that students have lost, workbook pages when they forget their workbook at home, and even coloring pages for them when we have some free time. I've been able to print materials when the schools copy machine has been broken.\r\n\r\nYou have made a huge difference in my classroom, and I saw that you made a second project of mine come true! I have noticed students reading for longer periods of time, using new vocabulary in discussion and writing, and showing greater stamina during reading lessons.\r\n\r\nThese books have also helped create a stronger reading community in our classroom. Students like to sit there and take a deep breathe. \r\n\r\nThe magna tiles have become a a great tactile way for students to practice sounds, letters and the combination of sounds and letters to make some CVC words. They love using them for learning and building. \r\n\r\nThe students are enjoying all of the fidget toys for calm moments. We are waiting to show them the Piggy and elephant stuffed animals as we are reading more of those stories for read alouds as the year moves on. A reliable color printer isn't just a convenience in my classroom—it immediately changes what students can access and understand. Clear, vibrant images now support their background knowledge before we dive into complex texts, which cuts through confusion and builds confidence. When kids can actually *see* what a story is referencing, they're less likely to check out and more likely to lean in.\r\n\r\nThe printer also lets me create scaffolds that actually work. Color-coding reading supports, differentiated organizers, and writing frames makes the structure of a task visible instead of mysterious. Students who normally struggle to track steps or understand expectations are already responding to these materials with more independence. I can tell when something genuinely helps them because they stop asking the same \"lost\" questions—and that's exactly what's happening.\r\n\r\nFinally, having a built-in scanner and copier means I can adapt materials on the spot instead of waiting for access to a shared machine that's often broken or backed up. I can scan workbook pages, duplicate essential forms, and adjust resources as needs come up in real time. That flexibility may sound small, but it directly affects how smoothly the room runs and how supported my students feel. Thank you for investing in something that makes a concrete daily difference.","fullyFundedDate":1756836496957,"projectUrl":"project/hot-off-the-press-student-voices-in-pri/9647175/","projectTitle":"Hot Off the Press: Student Voices in Print","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Farenga","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10221449_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764532049925","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10221449"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_406","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1161,"numTeachers":89,"percentFrplEligible":86,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":20,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":52,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":64.7,"schoolId":406,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 89 Williamsbridge School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 89 Williamsbridge School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-89-bronx/406"}
