Most of my students have never been outside their neighborhood, let alone outside their city. With as socially and economically disadvantaged as they are, they can not afford to buy computers or tablets. Some of them don't even have a car to be able to drive to the library or live too far away to walk. With the way our schools are transitioning to computers and net books, our students have fallen way behind. It is a struggle to keep them engaged without logging on to other sites. Through the use of tablets, a group of students can all work together on extension activities or intervention activities, as well as be able to actually experience parts of the world on different virtual field trips. Just these 10 tablets could mean the world to some of our students. I can show them all I can offer to them to enrich their lives even more!
