Being in a low income neighborhood, we do not receive much funding for supplies. Unfortunately, the library in our classroom is very old, understocked, and out dated. Trying to get students excited about reading is difficult when there are very few 'exciting' books to choose from. Donating to this project would give my students the opportunity to explore the wonderful world of reading. Providing my students with a more high interest library would help them grow their love for reading! My goal is to show all of my students that EVERYONE can be a reader. Exposing them to more high interest books will increase their engagement, which in turn would help them reach their reading benchmarks.
