Our school is a part of KIPP St. Louis and is made up of over 350 students ranging from 5th through 8th grade are an inner-city public school and we serve some of the most under-privilege students in the city of St. Louis. Approximately 96% of the students come from low-income families. The school's student population comprises of approximately 98% African-American students and 13% students with special needs. But despite these challenging statistics, my students are energetic, curious, and thriving young scholars that will make a difference in their city and their world. They have had opportunities to work with scientists from Sigma Aldrich and Merck KGgA, as well as Washington University-St. Louis and they are eager for more ways to learn and grow as scientists.
