I am requesting a variety of sensory integration items for my students. I want to give my students opportunities to explore different ways of moving and regulating their bodies in order to make them calmer and better able to participate in everyday classroom activities. These sensory items will teach my students fun ways to engage with adults and peers as well as positive self regulation techniques. All of my students have been diagnosed with some level of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They struggle with keeping their bodies calm and regulated so they can remain engaged in classroom learning opportunities. These items will allow them the sensory input they need and increase their school success. For example, the wagon and Bilbo seats will help my students explore movement activities in a positive way. The chew tubes help them meet their oral sensory needs and the weighted blanket and lap pads give them deep pressure. All of these items make make my students more aware of their sensory needs and teach them to self regulate their bodies.
