My students, mostly lower income children, find safety and respect in our classroom. Our charter school integrates the arts into all disciplines which helps my students stay engaged in their studies. Our school offers a wide range of opportunities in theater and the performing arts but lack somewhat in the elementary visual arts department. My students love to create and express themselves, and I want to ensure that every avenue of self-expression is available. I believe that obtaining these supplies would help my students create and appreciate visual aesthetics, while fostering problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. My students work collaboratively on numerous projects and assignments, which promotes a feeling of shared responsibility and compromise.
