My students come from a variety of backgrounds with a high number receiving free or reduced lunch. The literacy students have with technology is limited to their knowledge that the technology exists. Many do not have access to resources outside of the school day and I only have 3 student computers for them to use. My school requires that students be able to connect their learning to real world needs. Without these resources students struggle to make successful and appropriate use of technology. Through this project I hope to close the technology gap and curricular gap that exists for so many of my students. We are located in a great spot for students to get out of classroom experiences in society and students are given the opportunity to express these connections through school events. A large population of my students are at after school care until 6:00 so they do not get a lot of time to build their experiential knowledge outside of school.
