Over the years, I have noticed my students seem to focus and engage in their learning best when they are outdoors. This year my co-teacher and I have committed to spending a large amount of our instructional time outside. Part of our time outside will be spent exploring the natural curiosities of our 1st grade students. The donations for this project will allow my students to become scientists, by recording their explorations and wonderings about nature. Each week students will have opportunities to sit in various natural areas surrounding our school and paint, draw and write in their very own nature journal. I can't wait to encourage their curiosity while also strengthening their literacy skills.
