My students are a group of kids who come from diverse backgrounds. Many of whom are from homes where they perhaps have never really socialized until school. For many of them their first taste of Health and Fitness is when they enter my gym. I have just over 500 children at my school. Their ages range from 5 to 11. These kids love physical education and you can see it the minute they enter the school gym. The kids who come in at 5 years old need lots of encouragement and guidance to even know how to move around a gym without falling over or being silly. Also a lot of them need guidance as to how to carry out fundamental movement skills such as galloping, skipping, jumping. They need help when it comes to general movement around the gym. As they get older you can see a difference as there are a handful of children who do get the opportunity to engage in sports outside of schools. You can start to see them developing more and carry out skills and activities at a more advanced level.
