This is my first year teaching at Hancock Elementary. The first thing I noticed about the school was the American spirit. There are pictures of soldiers, American flags, Barack Obama, etc. The majority (95%) of the students at this school come from military families. The school dedicates a lot of time towards military activities and showing our respect to the soldiers. Many of the students' parents are away on deployment, it is very tough for them to deal with at times. School is a great place for them to leave their worries behind and learn and have fun at at the same time. Another thing I noticed was how clean the school was. You can tell this school prides itself on making things look nice. The custodial staff is great, everyone loves them. The students are also amazing at cleaning up, they truly take responsibility in keeping things tidy. It is great to see the students caring about the environment.
