My students come to kindergarten with limited exposure to literature. Most have never been to a pre-school or daycare. I teach at a high risk school where about 85% of the students are on free or reduced lunch. Many students are English language learners. The focus of most homes is to provide the basic needs of food, shelter, and clothing. I would like to provide more for each student.
