The fifth grade students at my school are very energetic. They love moving, creating, and collaborating with their peers. From the first music class, I could tell that the fifth grade was ready for something new and exciting in music. Many students have told me that they've always wanted to learn how to play an instrument, but I know that for many of them, the cost of buying an instrument has held them back from learning to play. With a 89% free/reduced lunch rate, many of my students could not afford to purchase an instrument themselves. I do not want their lack of financial support to limit their experiences in music.
