If our project is fully funded, we will experience life as a Cherokee and a pioneer by taking part in the following activities at Earthshine Lodge in the EXPLORE APPALACHIA section: ● Pioneer skills: ○ Blacksmithing / tools ○ Spinning / weaving ○ Fire / cooking / candles ○ Farm experience--gardens / animals ● Cherokee skills: ○ Archery ○ Corn grinding / cooking ○ Clay--beads, their story and your story ○ Cherokee nature hike Many of our students have only read about these activities. We want them to have the experience of what it was like for these two groups of people. The cost of the trip is a hardship for most of our parents. We would love to alleviate a portion by raising funds. The students will be so excited to go and they will have a truly great and rewarding experience.
