Students in my classroom will use these texts in a variety of ways. First, students will use the "right level books" to practice reading skills based on Common Core Standards. Students will improve their comprehension skills and reading fluency by reading books at their level. Then, students will use these books for independent reading. Especially, for struggling readers, it is important to experience books with a variety of topics. This selection of books will definitely engage my struggling readers to read for joy. In addition, students will use these books as mentor texts for realistic fiction, personal narrative, and persuasive essay during writing workshop. By reading books at their level, students will feel confident in reading and discover the joy of reading! As a teacher, I will use the books to read aloud in class to demonstrate fluent reading. Also, I will use them as mentor texts to model reading strategies and writing skills including grammar and word choice.
