We are a large, coeducational public high school, offering students a college prep curriculum in a diverse urban low income setting. The majority of our students are at a musical deficit because of lack of exposures to music. Wether in Music Appreciation, band, orchestra, or chorus, across our entire music curriculum, they enter high school with no musical training whatsoever. It is our responsibility to educate, train, and develop their newly acquired musical skills to their fullest potential. A key element in becoming a well-rounded musician is to develop a discriminating ear by listening to all types of music as much as possible, in turn, making well-educated and informed musical decisions. My vision is to share with our students my extensive recording library, that crosses all genres, that I have acquired throughout the years as a teacher and a professional musician. I know that through my listening I have become a better teacher musician and I want the same for our students.
